Fablevision helps the heritage lottery fund to celebrate its 15th anniversary
The Pearce Institute in Govan was the venue for the HLF anniversary event where heritage organisations, politicians and dignatories gathered for a lunch and a birthday celebration.
A guided tour of Govan's historic treasures included the Fairfield shipyard conversion, Govan Old parish Church with its famous hog backed stones and the Pearce Institute itself.
"it proves my long held belief that Govan truly is the centre of the world" said Nicola Sturgeon in her introduction. She praised the work of heritage lottery funded Fablevision before handing over to Liz Gardiner and the cast of Sparr directed by Frank Miller of Cran Theatre.
The team performed a short excerpt from the Sparr performance event to wide acclaim. To view the web based learning resource of Sparr, visit

Next stages will involve partnership with the Galgael Trust, the PI, Govan Old, Govan Workspace and Page and Park architects to develop a shared vision for the historic heart of govan. Frank Miller and Cran are already planning a choral piece and initial funding is in place from CS Glasgow, Roots in the Community, Project Scotland and others
