Bolt TV "Loss of Littlehill" - 2008
In July last year Bolt TV and Fablevison film artists worked closely with some of the young people of Blackhill/Provanmill. They were exploring different film-making techniques and developing documentary making skills. The result of this process has been the creation of an insightful film about their community. Through getting to know what was involved in film-making and getting to grips with shooting and film sets the young people decided they would like to make a documentary style film on the recent burning down of a local school, Littlehill Primary.
The film examined issues from the point of view of the fire brigade whose lives are at risk in situations like these, the former pupils of the school who grieved at the loss of their little school, the community council and local residents who have lost a community resource. The film ended on a positive note, however, with the question, “what next”.
The debate raged at a community event where a viewing of the film was followed by panel discussion with contributions from the floor. The evening was a huge success and the event brought up some really positive feedback from the community.

Following on from the success of Bolt T V Fablevision are working with Project Scotland and North Glasgow College on an exciting ESF funded project where young people, between the ages of 16 and 19, from Govan, Possil and Blackhill are learning these film techniques in order to gain accreditations towards College courses and even future employment with organisations such as Fablevision.
To find out more about the films the young people are making or how they feel they are getting on in the course have a look at the links to their personal blogs on Transform TV.
