During 2009, Fablevision partnered with Bolt FM in the development of the newest strand of North Glasgow’s multi media youth training project – Bolt TV. Their documentary film on the burning down of Littlehill Primary School was premiered in St Pauls Church in January ’09 in the new cultural hub at St Pauls. Later in the year, Fablevision’s business support unit supported the autumn radio broadcast and training programme.

Royston Road Project

Royston road project

Royston Road Projects BURA award winning creative community consultation and Community Campus vision had been consolidated in their visioning document, Imagined Space during 2007/08. During 2009, the hard work of the local volunteers, internationally renowned public artist, David Harding and Fablevision, finally bore fruit.

RRP brought a supportive steering group around the table with representatives from the public sector, local Housing Associations, CS Glasgow and in partnership with the Molendinar Community Council, they pushed the project forward from development to delivery. Using the findings of a further creative consultation event delivered by RRP in April 2009, the council is now firming up detailed designs for the informal play area and plans are already in place to progress other aspects of the Community Campus. The steering group will continue to report to the Royston Road project during the construction phase. Thereafter, the maintenance overview and ownership will be passed to the Molendinar Community Council.

Royston Road Project is immensely proud of these achievements and the British Urban Regeneration Awards scheme continues to monitor the progress of this exciting and innovative project.

Meanwhile, RRP has identified the need to address the growing multicultural nature of the Royston Road area and is creating work which is designed to break down perceived barriers and promote intercultural understanding, Fablevision will continue to work with local people towards this end.

Paisley Development Trust

With several successful partnership projects and collaborations with Fablevision under their belt, Paisley Development Trust is now looking to develop a large scale research, learning programme and schedule of events looking at an oft forgotten aspect of Paisley’s history – the persecution and murder of 7 good citizens of the town in 1697 because of the malignant accusations of teenager, Christian Shaw and sanctioned by the church of the day. Legend had it that Paisley will suffer the curse of the witches until the horseshoe was replaced at Maxwelton Cross and PDT has now successfully executed this duty with the assistance of artist Sandy Stoddart. A growing debate about the real nature of those so called “witch trials” has inspired argument in the local press and, with support of the Heritage Lottery, PDT plans to involve local young people in a thoroughscene Paisley history project interrogation of their credentials and, if it is discovered that these people were in all likelihood nothing more than poor victims of prejudice and hysteria, there will be an official pardoning, a belated apology and an attempt to lay their spirits to rest so that Paisley can move on and, hopefully, recover some of its power, strength and prowess in the 21st century.
