transform t.v.
Our 2007 pilot - Vibrant, sustainable communities has evolved in 2008 into the brand, Transform T.V.
In Blackhill Provanmill, Possilpark and Govan, Transform T.V. has allowed young people to participate in media skills training, map their communities and make a unique film of their findings.Young people In Possil Park, celebrated the 21st anniversary of Hawthorn Housing Co-operative. In Blackhill Provanmill they explored new possibilities for the torched Littlehill Primary School, and in Govan they gathered oral histories from shipbuilding days ,
As young people in each of these communities develop their own cultural enterprises and gain qualifications in media skills through North Glasgow College, they are forming a network of communities speaking to each other via Transform T.V. The vision for the next stage of this process in 2009 is a potential partnership with the BBC. (watch this space!).
For those who complete the Transform T.V. programme (supported by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Project Scotland’s Chance for Change programme the E.I.S. and Church of Scotland), there are further work placement and employment opportunities in Fablevisions new trading arm, Studios which has been developed in a feasibility trial during 2008 and will commence trading in January 2009 (supported by Project Scotland, DSL and First Port).

Fablevision Studios
A wholly owned subsidiary of Fablevision will complement our charitable activities, ensure sustainable growth for the charity and, at the same time, provide vital employment opportunities for disenfranchised young people. Studios delivers web/media/3D graphic design contracts for private, public and voluntary sector clients, local media producers and schools, as well as making films, web resources and 3D animations.
We believe this new area of work will become increasingly important as predicted youth unemployment figures rise in the current economic crisis.

Fablevision is establishing new partnerships with local authorities, community planning partnerships, education departments, universities, Local People Leading and Senscot. All of our work is in the context of cultural planning: applied research, action learning and training delivered on behalf of the national cultural planning forum (www.ncpsg.org).
With growing confidence in our products and services, Fablevision (a founder member of the Cultural Social Enterprise Network) has embraced the social enterprise ethos. Whilst welcoming grant funding partners for specific projects, the company is relishing the artistic and intellectual freedom available from pursuing the “trading for transformation” business model. We look forward to doing business with all of our existing and potential partners in 2009.
