TV at the Mill
With funding from Glasgow City Council, the Church of Scotland and the Esmee Fairbairn Trust, Fablevision has been continuing work started through the Alien8 programme developing film and webcasting skills with local young people in Blackhill Provanmill. TV at the Mill is an initiative which is led, managed and delivered by local young people (many of whom have excluded themselves from formal education). It has partnership support from St Paul's Youth Forum and North Glasgow College. The work has supported the development of a cultural hub and will initiate a cross border collaboration with neighbouring Shettleston Tollcross. Training and joint working (facilitated by a specially designed mobile container) will reduce gang violence in both neighbourhoods. Over the coming months, TV at the Mill will complement Bolt FM , Northern Rock and other cultural projects based in the new cultural hub which is The Mill at Provanmmill. Run by a management committee of young people who are currently developing the new organisation, the training project will continue to support local young people who are at risk from drugs, crime, anti social behaviour and gang violence.
