Western Isles Cultural Pathfinder
Fablevision was commissioned by Western Isles Council to explore the most effective methods of engaging with residents of the Outer Hebrides. A consortium group involving Creative Services and Theatre Hebrides are delivering the pathfinder managed by a cross sectoral partnership steering group involving several Council Departments as well as external partners.
The exploration was designed to discover what priorities people of the Western Isles have in terms of their cultural resources and to make recommendations as to how those resources can best be supported.
The focus of the pathfinder had two main elements: a creative consultation involving an artist led workshop programme and a documentary film, Island Voices complementing the more traditional agency/stakeholder consultation process led by Creative Services. The programme covered every island and involved local people (including young people) who would not normally participate in a consultation process. .The final report is being prepared now and will be presented to the steering group in April 2008.
