About us
What is Fablevision?
Fablevision offers communities the opportunity to celebrate their own local culture, history and identity as an approach to sustainable local development. This is done by identifying resources within each locale: people and their stories, youth groups, arts companies, schools, sports activities, venues, natural heritage and includes those things which first appear like problems: derelict areas, old buildings, disaffected young people and trouble spots.
|
We call this process of identification Cultural Mapping. Our trained, culturally sensitive professionals assist local partners in this process and enable them to develop creative projects best suited to their ambitions.
These projects work best when supported by the existing local players: community organisations, retailers, industry, service providers and local government departments. Engaging
participation from these sectors guarantees a lasting legacy of co-operation and collaboration. A vital outcome is a networking mechanism based on communication and mutual support locally nationally and internationally.

Cultural Planning at work... |
This approach to increased participation by local people in the planning and policies that affect their communities is called Cultural Planning. This method of working forms the basis of all Fablevision’s activities. We deliver programmes and activities which allow neighbourhoods to examine their own sense of community and choose the means of engagement and outcome
Fablevision’s work is an on-going quest (see research) for best practice models linked to different service areas like regeneration, planning, health, education and social services. We have developed cultural planning courses (see transform learning) which engage with employees in all of these areas so that they can explore the processes with us, share findings and support projects in their own sectors. Documentation, web and film services to the charity, the wider social enterprise sector, the public, private and voluntary sectors are provided by Fablevision Studios Ltd.
