Creative Nurseries Exhibition
The Creative Nurseries Exhibition is a celebration of a Fablevision led project in partnership with South Ayrshire Council It will give people of South Ayrshire the opportunity to learn about the process of a cultural planning project which took place between January and June this year.
The exhibition will be open for viewing from 10am on Thursday 13th September until 4pm on Thursday 20th (excluding weekends). The Creative Nurseries project explored the theme of cultural entitlements with the pre-five citizens, their parents/guardians, teachers and other nursery staff.
The project is one of 13 Cultural Pathfinder projects initiated by the Scottish Executive. They are designed to explore cultural approaches to ways of working.
The project worked with artists from Fablevision – Scotland’s Centre for Cultural Planning. Three artists used music, drama, visual art and creative play to explore the world in which the participants live. The young people explored cultural resources on their imaginary journeys such as museums, theatres, beaches, parks and historic buildings. Throughout their journeys they learned to solve problems, create new ideas and make proposals about their world.
Kate Robertson, One of the artists on the project said: “I really enjoyed working on such an innovative and exciting project, seeing the participation, imagination and confidence of the children grow over the course of the project was an absolute joy. We were constantly surprised by the children’s reactions, suggestions and creativity. The artwork sessions were a pleasure to deliver and a great learning experience for both the pupils and myself .I really feel that everyone involved has benefited greatly from this project.”
The Exhibition takes place in the foyer of South Ayrshire Council – (enter by courtyard), Wellington Square, Ayr and is open from 10am- 4pm excluding weekends until the 20th of September 2007.
