Fablevision utilised links with the team responsible for the restoration of the Britannia Panopticon Theatre in Glasgow, organising a team to do an archeological dig under floorboards in the old Glen Cinema in Paisley town centre.
Survivors of the disaster were tracked down, most of whom still live in Paisley, but a few now live in other countries. Interviews and research with survivors was conducted to create emotional media exhibits for the exhibition.
Photography artist Pam So conducted a photography residency, taking local children to the cinema in Linwood and documenting what it was like for children today to go to the movies.
Students for Paisley University’s Media School produced an original documentary, interviewing survivors and telling the story of the Glen Cinema for visitors to the exhibition.
A reminiscence and art therapy project was conducted by artist Oran Wishart, enabling survivors and those who remember the disaster who live in Abbey Court Care Home to participate in the exhibition.
A definitive version of the events of the day of the Glen Cinema Disaster were researched and written, to provide Paisley with a clear and accurate picture of what was one of it’s darkest days.
A 30 seater cinema was constructed in the exhibition space, the first working cinema in Paisley for many years.
