Update 11-10-06 Spartan Fablevision has had an 8 year partnership with the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine, North Ayrshire, which has focussed on Spartan, one of Scotland’s last Puffer boats. The Museum has raised the funds to renovate the puffer and transform her original function (as carrier of coal and whiskey to the remote communities of the West Coast of Scotland) into a modern day touring cultural venue. Fablevision has worked in tandem to animate the process and to create the programme for the first tour. Young people have worked with professional film directors from Fablevision to explore the history of the boat which has been docked in Irvine for the duration of their lifetime. They have gathered research and created an exciting new documentary which will share ‘Spartan’s Story’ with both the local community and the world at large. On Saturday the 25th November 2006 at 7:30pm the film will be shown by the boat at Irvine Harbour, a celebration of the boat, the people and their history.
